BOSTON -- Matthew J. Simmons, 35, of Joy Street, Beacon Hill, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at home after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Robert F. Simmons of New Bedford and the late Geraldine (Carreiro) Simmons. He lived in Boston 11 years.
He was a telemarketer and was active with AIDS Action in Boston.
Survivors include his father; a son, Colton Simmons of New Bedford; three brothers, Joseph Simmons, Robert Simmons and Mark Simmons; three sisters, Darlene Almeida, Sherry Simmons and Marjorie Simmons; nieces and nephews; and a great-niece and a great-nephew.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 11 a.m., October 27, 2005, at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma.
