Bridgewater - Robert A. Cossaboom, 90, of Bridgewater died Sunday at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Martha B. (Dorr) Cossaboom.
Born July 1, 1915, in Quincy, he was a son of the late Augustus D. and Effie B. (Warrington) Cossaboom.
Raised in Quincy, he was a 1934 graduate of Quincy High School and attended Burdett College in Boston.
Mr. Cossaboom was a salesman with the Electrolux Vacuum Co. for 30 years and also worked at Dorr‘s Print Shop for many years.
He had been a Bridgewater resident for 64 years and was an active member of the Central Square Congregational Church in Bridgewater.
Mr. Cossaboom was a blood donor for many years because he had a rare blood type and wanted to help others.
He was a secretary of Business Men’s Bowling League for many years and was a member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge in Bridgewater for 60 years.
He is survived by two sons, James D. of Plymouth and Robert D. of Lakeville; a brother, Arthur W. Cossaboom of Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Melinda L. Miles, Brian J. Cossaboom, Michael A. Cossaboom and Laura L. Cossaboom; his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, Catherine, Brady, Jenna and Shane; his “daughter,” Sandra L. Flood of Middleboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Isabel Hoag.
His funeral service will be held in Central Square Congregational Church, Bridgewater, Thursday at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Wednesday 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
