Wootson Goff, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald with Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Goff was born November 27, 1928 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late William Cody and Pearl Burton Goff. He had lived most all his life in Fitzgerald and was a 1946 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He worked for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad for 10 years before going to work for General Telephone and Electric. Later he worked with the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Recreation Department. He was a former Coach and Athletic Director at Irwin Academy. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sports supporter of the Fitzgerald Hurricane and dedicated his life to coaching young people. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Baraca Sunday School Class.
Mr. Goff is survived by 3 Daughters: Fran M. Barnette, Savannah, Georgia, Beth Goff, Alpharetta, Georgia, and Becky Ragouzeos, Raleigh, North Carolina; 4 Granchildren: Angela Ragouzeous, Gabby Razouzeos, B.J. Barnette and Cassie Barnette; Great-grandson, Bo Barnette; Brother, Cody Joe Goff, Fitzgerald, Georgia; 3 Sisters: Sandra Gardsbane, New Orleans, LA, Brenda Goff, Saint Simons Island, GA, and Bonnie Padgette, Gainesville, GA.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Bradford.
