Obituary

Richard J. Canavan , a lifelong resident of Stoughton, passed away after a short illness on Thursday October 20, 2005 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was 53 years old. He was the beloved son of Barbara A. (Daly) Canavan of Stoughton and the late Charles E. Canavan Sr.

Born April 16, 1952 in Stoughton , Massachusetts, Mr. Canavan attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a 1970 graduate of Stoughton High School.

He also attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Canavan was a Carpenter and was a member of the New England Carpenters and Joiners Union Local #624 in Brockton, MA.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother Charles E. Canavan Jr. and his wife Florence M. Canavan of Bridgewater, MA, his sister Kathleen E. (Canavan) Berry and William Hansen of Holbrook,MA , his sister Mary Jane Canavan and his sister-in-law Anne M. Paradis of Sunderland, MA, his brother William R. Canavan of Los Angeles, California, his brother Kenneth G. Canavan of Abington, MA and his brother Thomas J. Canavan of Stoughton,MA. He is also survived by his two nieces, Amy L. Higgins of Newton, MA and Karen Kean of Goffstown, New Hampshire , as well as many friends.

His funeral will be held on Saturday October 22, 2005 at 9:00 A.M. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27, Stoughton at 10:15 A.M. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.

Visiting hours are on Friday October 21, 2005 from 3-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Flowers are welcome.
