GILFORD, NH - Joseph P. Griffiths Jr., age 73, died Tuesday afternoon, June 11, at his Gilfordhome, after a long illness. He was the husband of Carol A. (Bentham) Griffiths, with whom he hadcelebrated a 32nd wedding anniversary this past May 1st.
He was born in Woburn, June 10, 1929, the son of Joseph P. and Jenny (Bonugli) Griffiths Sr. He had been a lifelong Tewksbury resident until he retired to Gilford in 1987.He was a home builder in Tewksbury, and had worked at Market Basket’s receiving department,in Rochester, NH, since moving north.
He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and the Winnipesaukee RadioControlers Club. In his earlier years, he was also a member of the Salem Mass., Order of theMoose.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Roy Balcom ofTewksbury, Cheryl and Robert Sands of Tyngsboro, Gail and Edwin Crouch of Tewksbury, ninegrandchildren, William Lipp Jr. of Tewksbury, Dawn Lipp of Tyngsboro, Eric Sands ofTyngsboro, Tiffany Sands of Tyngsboro, Alan Balcom of Tewksbury, Ryan Balcom ofTewksbury, Jennifer Crouch of Tewksbury, Michael Crouch of Tewksbury and Matthew Crouchof Tewksbury, and many cousins.
His funeral service was held Saturday, June15th in the funeral home. Burial followed in Tewksbury Cemetery.
