Mary M. (Reilly) Small, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and a proud Townie, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at her home in Charlestown. She was 98 years of age.
Mary was born in Boston on September 8, 1919, a daughter of the late William Reilly and Anna (Noonan) Reilly. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial school and graduated from St. John's High School in Cambridge. Mary worked for the Continental Baking Company(Hostess Cup Cakes) for over 25 years. She always enjoyed a good party, doing crossword puzzles, watching the Red Sox but most of all was her admiration for Fr. Dan Mahoney of St. Francis De Sales Church. Mary was also a member of the Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Mary is the beloved wife of the late William B. Small. She is the devoted mother of Ann Marie Kenney of Hull and Peggy Lynch of Charlestown. She is the loving Nana to Maureen, Marykate, Shannon, Erin, Billy, Kathleen and her great-grandchildren Kevin, Patrick, Lauren, Meaghan, Reilly and Claire. She is the beloved sister of the late Anna Dye, Charles Reilly and William Reilly. She is the longtime friend of Marion Sluskonis and friend of Judy Evers and Peggy Suprey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Mary's name to St. Francis De Sales Church Building Fund, 303 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, Mass. 02129
