Mary E. “Betty” (Drury) Shields, of Newton Centre, died Wed Oct. 19, 2005 at Waban Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 81.
Born in Mercersburg, PA she graduated from Bryant College. She had lived in Newton since 1960 and had worked as a secretary for Newton College and later Boston College, retiring after 18 years.
She is survived by her husband Robert B. Shields, her children Robert B. Shields Jr. of Burke, VA, Pamela A. Goodspeed of Gloucester, Peter C. Shields of Newton and David A. Shields of Newton, her brother Paul Drury, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She was the sister of the late Barbara F. Drury.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Sat Oct 22 at 8:30 AM and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Newton Centre, at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Fri from 4-7 PM
