...active fund raiser for the Tewksbury Senior Community; 70

TEWKSBURY - Mary Ann (Gunther) Wareham, 70, a well known and active senior inTewksbury, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 11, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. She was the wife of William A. Wareham Sr, with whom she would have celebrated a 29thwedding anniversary this August 2, 2002.

She was born in Granville, NY, September 9, 1931, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Gunther. She was raised in NY, and lived in Burlington, VT, before moving to Tewksbury in1979.

She received her bachelors degree from Green Mountain College in VT, and later earned herMasters in Education from Castleton College in VT. She also attended Adirondack College inNY.

She worked for Catholic Charities in Boston as a fund-raiser for more than 19 years. Uponretirement, she had used her considerable talents in fund-raising for the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In Center, Building Fund, and other worthy projects in Town. She was the principle organizer forGolf Connection, the annual Tewksbury Senior Golf outing, and the annual Senior Auction inTewksbury. She also brought the “Tree of Life” to the Sr. Drop-In Center. Earlier, she workedwith the group that funded and erected the children’s playground at the Livingston Street sportscomplex.

She was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club, and was a member of the Town ofTewksbury’s Senior Building Committee.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five children, William A. and his wife Linda (Downs)Wareham Jr. of Tewksbury, Christina “Tina” and her husband John Ntapalis of Billerica, John P.and his wife Eliose “Ellie” (Palumbo) Wareham of Everett, Mark J. and his wife Gayle (Beauvais)Fraser of Burlington, VT, Maury M. and her husband David Tooley of Pawlet, VT, a sister, SusanGerroir of Maynard, a brother, John Gunther of Arlington, VT, 15 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

She was also mother of the late Christopher Wareham and Kevin J. Fraser.

Funeral Mass was held Friday, June 14, in St. William’s Church. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
