Rosemarie I. (Chiero) O'Brien, age 106, of Norwichtown, Connecticut (formerly of Vernon, Connecticut), died peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norwichtown, Connecticut. Rosemarie was the daughter of Domenic Chiero of Torre Di Ruggiero, Italy and Josephine (Gagliardi) Chiero, of Cardinale, Italy. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward O'Brien. Rosemarie was the oldest of nine children, all whom pre-deceased her, including her late sister, Josephine C. (Chiero) McNeil of Duxbury, Massachusetts. She was a longtime devoted friend to the late Beatrice Sherron. As a young woman, Rosemarie lived in New York City where she sang and performed at the famous Hippodrome Theatre. She was extremely talented and worked for several years in cosmetics and high fashion design in New York City. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and a longtime friend, Charles G. Brady of Duxbury, MA. Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful services provided by her caregivers at Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center, Norwichtown, Connecticut. Their compassion, kindness, gentleness and companionship over the last six years are very much appreciated. A Visitation period will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston, MA on Monday, November 13, from 9:00 to 9:30AM, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St, Duxbury, MA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Miramar Retreat Center, P.O Box M, Duxbury, MA 02331.
