WEBSTER – Mary (Fijal) Stapor, 87, formerly of Whitcomb St., died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Oct. 16, in Webster Manor. Her husband of 42 years, Joseph J. Stapor, died in 1984.
She leaves two daughters, Janice M. Doboszynski and her husband Joseph of Pittsfield and Nancy S. Baron of Webster; four granddaughters, Jennifer Doboszynski, Juliann Lipski, Stephanie Baron and Stacey Baron; three great grandchildren, Abigail, Natalie and Jacob Lipski; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Mitchell and Theodore Fijal.
She was born in Webster, the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Karoline (Bielaszka) Fijal, and lived here all her life. She attended Bartlett High School.
Mrs. Stapor worked as a repairer at Webster Shoe Co., Sandlerette Footwear Co. and Bates Shoe Co. before she retired.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica and its Holy Rosary Sodality. She was a founding member of the St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club. She belonged to the Polish American Veterans Auxiliary.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the funeral home.
