Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Anthony V. “Tony” Ferro died Saturday at West Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, son of the late John and Carmela (Vassallo) Ferro, he was raised in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School. He was a veteran of WWII, who served in the US Army, and had been employed for 42 years at Stop and Shop Supermarkets, many of those years in the position of Produce Manager, retiring in 1980. Tony was an avid Bowler and was a member of the Senior Citizen League, bowling twice a week at Westgate Lanes.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis M. (Bisognano) Ferro, one daughter, Melinda Prunier of Brockton, four sons, John Ferro of Santa Rosa, CA, Joseph Ferro of N. Easton, Anthony Ferro of Bridgewater and Frank Ferro of Brockton, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, three brothers Vincent “Jim” Ferro of East Boston, Mario Ferro of Florida, Salvatore Ferro of Florida and Rita Ferro of East Boston.
He was the brother of the late Frances Sala, Nancy Ferro, Carmela Sala and John and Anna Ferro.
