Obituary

Clyde Harris, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, October 14, 2005 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.

Funeral Services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with Rev. Steve Hand, Rev. Sonny Pate, and Elder Melvin Stringer officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris was born May 20, 1932 in Kinston, Alabama, to the late William Andy and Annie Stringer Harris. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on a tanker ship during his time of service. He began his career as a forester with Owens-Illinois in Clyattville, GA later being transferred to Orange, TX. Mr. Harris also worked as an area manager for Southland Timber in Statesboro and was a former employee of Modern Fibers. He retired from Gilman Building Products Company as a crane operator. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years: Margie Davis Harris of Fitzgerald; children: Glenda Harris (Ronald) Brown and W. David (Ann) Harris, all of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother: Bobby Harris of Franklin, GA; and two sisters: Robbie Nell Sapp of Dublin and Betty Sue Wagner of Keystone Heights, FL. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry D. Harris.
