Obituary

Geneva R. Brown, 90, of the Abba Community in Irwin County, Georgia, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Dorminy Medical Center, Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 14, 2005 at the Paulk Funeral
Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Howard Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. Visitation will be held Thursday from 7 P.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born July 18, 1915, in Turner County, Georgia to the late Willis B. and Alma Elizabeth McElmurray Simmons. She grew up in Crawford County, where she attended Roberta High School. She and Mr. Brown married in 1931 and moved to Irwin County, where she lived the rest of her life. Mrs. Brown was a life-long member and Church Clerk for fifty years at Abba Baptist Church. She was a Past-Worthy Matron of the Ada Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Brown is survived by two sons: William J. Brown, III of the Abba Community, Irwin County and Harold W. (Peggy) Brown of Pensacola, FL; daughter: Nita Burns of Carrollton; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; Brother: William (Christine) Simmons of Alpharetta; sister: Ann (Norman) Wilcox of Warner Robins; special friends: Annette Calhoun, Jan Bagley and Amanda Luke, all of Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.J.C. “Jack” Brown, Jr., son-in-law, James F. Burns, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
