Vera Garrison Boney, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boney was born December 27, 1924, in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late Wiley and Sudie Williams Garrison. She was a 1941 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mrs. Boney started her career with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Rock Island. IL and retired from the Defense Traffic Management Service at the Atlanta Army Depot in 1984. She then moved back to Fitzgerald from Smyrna. Mrs. Boney was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Telfair County and a member of the Fitzgerald Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: June & Jim Walker of San Antonio, TX; son and daughter-in-law: Lamar & Rose Troup of Rockledge, FL; grandson: David Troup of Rockledge, FL; stepsons: John C. Boney, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and Vic Boney of Fitzgerald; sisters: Thelma Gaff of Homestead, FL and Peggy Luke of Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Boney and a daughter, Judith Carol Troup.
