
John, A. Garner, Jr., 73, of Halsey Drive died Monday at Hopkins Manor in North Providence. He was the husband of Frances (Malo) Garner.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John A. and Alice W. (Welch) Garner. He lived in Smithfield for 40 years before moving to North Providence five months ago. Mr. Garner had been a truck driver and member of Teamsters’ Local 251. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Garner was a custodian at Anna McCabe School for seven years and was a member of the Smithfield Sr. Center.
He is also survived by a son, John E. Garner of Coventry; two daughters, JoAnn Martin of Woonsocket and Joyce M. Dias of Smithfield; three sisters, Barbara Garner of Coventry, Claire Choniere of Virginia, Jean Fagan of Lincoln; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Janet Leith.
His funeral service will be held Friday at 11:30am in the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Rt. 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
