Obituary

Charles A. Clark Sr., of 567 Groton Long Point Road, Noank, passed Monday at The Westerly Hospital after a 7 ½ year courageous battle with Insulinoma, the first known case of the rare disease in the United States. He was 66.

Charlie was born in New London on July 20, 1939 the son of Fred D. Clark Jr. and Cornelia Welch Clark. Raised on Groton Long Point, Charlie attended local schools and was a 1958 graduate of Fitch High School where he met the love of his life, Marcia (Boiselle) Clark whom he married at the Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church on April 4th, 1959. Together, they enjoyed 46 1/2 years of marriage and raising their family.

A well-known area businessman, Charlie served as President of Fred D. Clark & Son Inc. General Contractors from 1979 until his recent retirement due to his illness. Affectionately known for his creativity and never-ending quest for perfection, Charlie earned the respect from all those who came to know him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kim L. Clark, Charles A. Clark Jr. and his wife Deborah, and Kraig L. Clark, all of Noank; a brother, Fred D. Clark III of Punta Gorda, Fla; and his grandchildren who kept him great company during his retirement, Alex, Benjamin, Sofie, Daniel, Callie and Tessa Clark. He was predeceased by his sister, Miriam C. Morgan.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at The Noank Baptist Church, 18 Cathedral Heights, Noank on Friday at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The family will gather privately for the burial at Noank Valley Cemetery prior to the church service. There are no visiting hours.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations in Charlie’s memory be made to the Noank Baptist Church, 18 Cathedral Heights, Noank CT 06340. The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic is assisting the family.
