Obituary

Providence, RI – Hope P. (Palmer) Durkee, 83, of Little Compton, RI died Friday, October 7, 2005 at Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of LeRoy E. Durkee.

Mrs. Durkee was born in Little Compton, daughter of the late Ephraim C. and Anna P. (Cory) Palmer, and was a lifelong resident of Little Compton. She was a member of the First Baptist (Old Stone) Church, Tiverton. She had a great love of music and was a member of the Sugar Stick Singers of Old Stone Church. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, making handcrafts and cooking. She loved going to South Shore Beach and spending time with her family.

Survivors include 2 sons: Bruce E. Durkee of Canton, NY and Todd E. Durkee of Little Compton; 3 daughters: Priscilla A. Wood of Little Compton, Sharon L. Simoes of Fall River and Wendy McCormick of Middleboro, MA; a brother: William H. Palmer of Tiverton; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was step-daughter of the late Mary (Case) Palmer, mother of the late Marion E. Haley and sister of the late Church C. Palmer, Leeson F. Palmer, Robert D. Palmer, Anna V. Quick, Barbara W. Gydesen, Lydia Palmer and Claudia J. Lancaster.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend:

A memorial service on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the First Baptist (Old Stone) Church, Tiverton at 3:00 P.M.

Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.
