N. Billerica- John C. (Bud) Crotty, 69, lifelong resident of N.Billerica, died Saturday, June 8thafter a 3-month illness. He was married for 41+ years to Judith (Butler) Crotty.
He was born at the Shaw Hospital in Lowell on December 10, 1932, a son of John J.Crotty and Helen (Starbird) Crotty. He attended Billerica schools but spent all his youthful freetime with many friends in Tewksbury. He drove super modified race cars for Rocky Hinton andEd Bowley of Tewksbury. He retired from racing chaffering the 41 JR, owned by Dick Mann ofStoughton, Winning numerous trophies and good will along the way.
Mr. Crotty was retired from Ironworkers Local #7(Boston) and Local #351(Lawrence)-totaling 32 years. He was a general contractor, steeplejack, and rigger.
His Leisure time was for hunting and fishing with his son and many friends in NH andMaine. He also cooked Pig Roasts for many clubs and charity events.
Mr. Crotty was a charter member of the Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks Lodge#2070. Hewas a life member of the North End Boat Club of Newburyport, Sportsmans Alliance of Maine,Many NH and Maine hunting clubs, The Bunting Club and Knickerbocker Club.
Beside his wife Judy, he is survived by his son Everett H. Crotty, four sisters; JanetGelineau of Chelmsford, Mary Anne Walton of Lowell, Margaret Carnevale of Orlando FL, andDonna M Smith of Pelham, NH, one brother; James T. Crotty of Billerica; one granddaughterBritni Pearl Crotty; a sister-in-law and her husband Bonnie and Bill Largy of Lowell; many nieces,nephews and their children; and many cousins.
He was also brother of the late William David Crotty, and brother-in-law of Robert H.Gelineau.
His funeral was Thursday, June 13, from the funeral home. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
