Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Richmond T. Gale, Sr., age 93, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, died Friday, October 7, 2005 at the Wentworth Skilled Care Center in Lowell.
He was the husband of Ruth E. (Cavanaugh) Gale, who died April 12, 2002.
Born in Tewksbury on November 16, 1911, he was the son of the late John T. and Edna Richmond (Harper) Gale.
Mr. Gale attended the former Foster School of Tewksbury and Lowell High School.
He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Gale was one of the original crew members of the U.S.S. Iowa.
Mr. Gale was employed as a wholesale florist by John T. Gale & Sons of Tewksbury, where he worked for 87 years.
He enjoyed many activities including flying in his Piper Cub and Stinson airplanes, sailing on his boat in Marblehead, driving his 1940 Packard 110 convertible and traveling to Plum Island and Lake Winnipesaukee.
He is survived by two sons; Richmond T. Gale, Jr. and his wife Patricia (Maglio) and Randall D. Gale all of Tewksbury; one granddaughter; Michelle N. Gale of Tewksbury; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gale was the brother of the late Edna E. Berg, Thelma G. Green and J. Harper Gale.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 11th from 1-3 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by his graveside service at the Tewksbury Cemetery.
