Bryant H. Bower, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, October 9, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Bower was born August 12, 1922, in Camden County, New Jersey, to the late Fleming Claude and Catherine Halderman Bower. He graduated from high school in Lima, Ohio and was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law. Mr. Bower served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was shot down during the Battle Of The Bulge. He was captured and held in a German P.O.W Camp from December until May in 1945. Mr. Bower moved to Fitzgerald in 1953 to practice law, from Eastman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the choir and was the song leader for the Adult IV Department Sunday school Class. Mr. Bower was former owner/operator of the Fitzgerald Credit Bureau and a member of the Elk’s Lodge.
Mr. Bower is survived by his daughter: Gail T. Bower of Augusta; two sons and daughters-in-law: Tracy H. & Elaine Bower of Fitzgerald and Bryant H. “Bing”, Jr. & Tara Bower of Waycross; 8 grandchildren: Jesse Samford, Will Belew, Darcy Belew, Lindsay Bower, Dessie Bower, Erin Bower, Andrew Bower and Wesley Bower. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mildred “Midge” Thomas Bower.
