MITCHELL, STANLEY R. of New Hampshire, formerly of South Boston, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2017 at age 86, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. He joins in heaven his wife, Ruth (Karnela), his son, James, and his granddaughter, Kristen McLaughlin. Devoted father of John Mitchell and his wife Anna, Patricia and her husband Michael McLaughlin, Susan and her husband Paul Bavis. Dear brother of Eva Karcher and Rosemarie Stone. Cherished Papa of 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Stanley loved life. He spent his career as a Technical Instructor at M.I.T. Chemical Engineering Department and also worked for Fidelity Investments. He enjoyed the best of both worlds spending his summers in NH at the lake and winters on Kauai. He loved playing golf, traveling, and was an amazing cook. He was a great man and will be missed by all. Visiting hours at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral Mass on Monday at 10 AM at St. Monica’s Church followed by interment in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
