Maxine (Schaefer) Selvage, 85, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital.
She was born January 16, 1932 to the late Bernard and Emma (Jasper) Schaefer. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Jenny Hurst, Juliette Schaefer, Irene Tempel, and Millie Ball, and brothers Carl Schaefer and Earl Schaefer.
Maxine had worked previously at Abell Elevator Company, but it was her life's work as a mother of 6 children that made her the special person she was.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Donald L. Selvage, and by her children, Rick Selvage (Ann) of Crestwood, Donna Gunter (David) of Newburgh, IN, Paul Selvage (Cheryl) of Avon Lake, OH, Julie Patterson (Tony) of Harrodsburg, KY, John Selvage (Ruby) of Middletown, KY, and Chris Selvage of Indianapolis, IN; and brother Bernard "Chuck" Schaefer of Louisville, KY; sisters, Ramona Zoeller of Louisville and Joanne Daugherty of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A special acknowledgement to granddaughter Tiffany Selvage, for her dedication to her grandmother over the last nine months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4005 Dixie Highway. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway, from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday.
