David J. Rooney, of Medford, New York and Grafton NH, died Wednesday at his Medford home surrounded by his family. He was 67.
Raised in Somerville, David was the son of the late Francis X. and the late Alice (Doyle) Rooney. Mr. Rooney served with the Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked many years as a rail road conductor with Amtrack, Conrail and Metro North Rail Road.
He was the beloved husband of Claire (Donovan). He was a devoted father to Kathy Carlino and her husband Michael of Medford, David Rooney and his wife Michelle of Malden, Deborah Neary and her husband James of Everett, Kevin Rooney of Medford. He was a loving “Papa” to Patrick, Ashleigh, Katherine, Abigail and Brendan. He was the brother of Francis Rooney, Paul Rooney and Mary McDevitt.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday October 10, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
