LOWELL—Marguerite R. ‘Peg’ Royal, 82 years old, died Wednesday afternoon, October 5th, at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home.
She was born in Lowell, on February 23, 1923, a daughter of the late Garrett G. and Helen A. (Mullane) Royal. She was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School, where she was a Girl Officer. She received her Teacher’s Degree from Salem State College, Class of 1944.
Miss Royal spent over 40 years teaching. She taught at Bradshaw Business School, Lowell Commercial College, Billerica Public School System and for over 25 years at Lowell High School.
She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church since 1959 and held membership in the Blessed Virgin Sodality of that parish, the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens, the League of Catholic Women, the Poor Clare Guild, Salem State Alumnae, and The Retired Educators of Massachusetts (REAM). She was a member of the Class Reunion Committees of Salem State College and Lowell High School, and was an adoptive grandmother at St. Margaret’s School.
Surviving her are a sister: M. Patricia Royal, of Lowell; cousins: Mary Alice Rivas, of Lowell; Dr. Philip Mullane, of Westford; Robert Mullane, of Florida; as well as many close relatives, friends and college friends.
Friends may call from 3 until 7 PM Sunday, October 9th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered Monday, October 10th, at 12 PM at ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
