Robert C. Carlson, 81, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at home. He leaves his wife of many years, Phyllis C. (Harts) Carlson; 2 sons, Robert C. Carlson, Jr., and his wife, Judy of Cincinnati, OH and Ronald D. Carlson of Trumansberg, NY; a daughter, Susan C. and her husband Timothy Keaney of Auburn; a sister, Mae Swenson of Worcester; 4 grandchildren, Andrea Magan, Margaret Eells, William Eells, and Katherine Keaney; a great-granddaughter, Grace Andrews; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester, son of Carl and Elizabeth (Goulding) Carlson. He was owner and operator of Robert C. Carlson Co. He was a graduate of Commerce High School and Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He was a proud member of the 8th Airforce during WWII stationed in England. He served as a flight engineer and aerial gunner on B-24 missions over Europe. He was an active member of the American Legion Main South Post, a lifetime member of the Auburn Elks, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Mini Post of Millbury, and sang with the Worcester Men of Song. Mr. Carlson loved fishing and gardening. He was dedicated to his family, selfless, and giving, and will be missed by all. His children remember him as a tireless and dedicated father who always had the energy to manage their little league teams and worked hard to make their lives joyful. He was goodness to the core.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday Oct 7, from 5-7 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
