Ilione A. (Lewis) Wakefield, 80, of Walpole, passed away peacefully in her home on October 2, 2005. She was the wife of William E. Wakefield, to whom she had been married for 56 years.
Mrs. Wakefield was born in New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Herbert W. and the late Hazel (Kelly) Lewis. She was the sister of the late Bertina Slack. She had been a Walpole resident since 1928.
Ilione graduated from Walpole High School in 1942 and N. E. Deaconess School of Nursing in 1946 as a Registered Nurse. She worked for 20 years at the Norwood Hospital.
Family was the primary focus of Mrs. Wakefield’s life. She enjoyed music, sewing, knitting and gardening and used her gifts and talents in a quiet manner in service to her family and community. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Walpole for 76 years.
Mrs. Wakefield is survived by her husband, Bill, and her children David L. Wakefield of Walpole, Nancy L. Wakefield of Walpole, Susan Wakefield Witmer of Freedom, CA and Marjorie Wakefield Dold of Walpole. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Deborah Ilione Wakefield. She was the grandmother of 11 and a great grandmother of 2.
A private family service and committal are planned. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 9 at 2 PM at the United Church in Walpole. All are welcome.
