Westport – Calvin F. Dillies, 72, of Westport died peacefully, Monday, October 3, 2005 at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Loretta (Park) Dillies.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Oscar and Elsie (Cleveland) Dillies, and had resided in Westport for the past 35 years. A graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, he was a United States Army veteran, bravely serving his country in the Korean War. He was a master electrician for the I.B.E.W. Local 223, recently serving as chief electrical officer of the Back Eddy Restaurant in Westport. Helping others had always been his avocation. Mr. Dillies was a member of the Unitarian Church, New Bedford.
Mr. Dillies was on the Board of Trustees for Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and a member of the Quitticas Lodge AF & AM of New Bedford. He was a volunteer fireman for the New Bedford Protecting Society. He enjoyed fishing and boating and loved spending time with his family, granddog Laurel, and many friends.
Including his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Lynne P. Dillies of Westport; 2 sisters: Dorothy Heath of New Bedford and Lorraine Parsons of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, October 7, 2005 at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Thursday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
