SALEM- Stasia Madeline (Kobuszewski) Curwen, age 83, beloved wife of Robert Worcester Curwen, formerly of Salem, died on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at her home in Peabody, after a brief illness.
Born in Salem, Stasia was a graduate of Salem High School and the Salem Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for thirty years as a licensed practical nurse at Salem Hospital and was respected and honored by her professional colleagues and patients for her diligence and selflessness. She was an active and life-long member of St John the Baptist Church, Salem. She was also an avid ocean swimmer into her 80th year, a gentle caretaker of children, a devoted wife, a generous patron of the church, and a constant support for her family.
She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Frances ( Zaborowski ) Kobuszewski and was predeceased by sisters Sophie Smedile and Mary Lapham, brothers Edward, William, and Chester Kobuszewski, and niece, Victoria LeBel Bottomley. She is survived by sisters Alice Kielbasa of Beverly and Theresa LeBel of Salem, as well as generations of grateful and loving nieces and nephews.
A service to honor her life will be held Friday, October 7, 2005 from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, at 9 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at St. John The Baptist Church, Salem, to be followed by a brief ceremony at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
