
PLYMOUTH - Albert A. Powell, 91, of Marshfield, formerly of Brockton and East Bridgewater, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Newfield House Nursing Home in Plymouth after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Chimber) Powell.
Born June 12, 1914, in Princeton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Neshukaitis) Povilaitis.
Mr. Powell grew up in Brockton and attended Brockton schools.
He resided in Marshfield for 30 years, as well as East Bridgewater for 30 years.
Mr. Powell was a longtime employee of Proctor and Gamble Co. in Quincy, retiring in the mid 1970s.
After retirement, he spent many winters in Florida and was an avid fisherman, bowler and golfer.
Mr. Powell loved spending hours in his workshop and was known to his family, friends and neighbors as the person to call for any home or boat repair or any project. He was always glad to help.
He is survived by his brother, Edward J. Powell of Orangeburg, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Julia Powell Ykasala.
His funeral Mass will be held in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, Thursday at 9 am. Visiting hour one hour prior to Mass in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater.
Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
