Obituary

BEATTY, Emma E. (Bottino), of Winthrop, July 19, 2017, at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond W. Beatty. Born in Concord, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eliza (Mascardelli) Bottino. Devoted mother of Sandra R. Sipe and her husband Carl of Bedford, NH and Susan C. Gaughan and her husband Dennis of Winthrop. Adored grandmother of Kelly Parker and her husband Nathaniel and Ryan Gaughan and his wife Yenni. Loving great-grandmother of Ryan, Jonathan, and Hannah Parker and Jacob, Brandon and Emma Gaughan. Dear sister of the late James, John, Frank, Anthony and David Bottino. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family cordially invites friends and relatives to share and celebrate Emma’s life, on Friday, July 28 in St. John’s Episcopal Church 222 Bowdoin St. Winthrop Ma, from 9:30 to 10:30am. A Funeral Service will follow in the church, beginning at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to East Boston Neighborhood PACE Recreational Fund 26 Sturgis St. Winthrop, MA 02152. Emma dedicated her life raising and caring for her family. During World War II, Emma enlisted in the Massachusetts Women’s Defense Corps, under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Committee on Public Safety/Civil Defense, and was stationed at Ft. Devens in Ayer, Massachusetts. She was an avid golfer and painter. The family would like to offer a special “thank you” to all of the wonderful staff at Winthrop Place for the care they provided to Emma for many years. Funeral arrangements are from the Maurice W.
