Obituary

WORCESTER - John Sobolewsky, 81, of 27 Shannon Street died Thursday June 6 in his home.

His wife Blanche L. (Letourneau) Sobolewsky died in 1988. He leaves a son William J. Martin of Leesburg, FL; a daughter Mary Ann Hassett of Barre; a brother Leo Sobloewsky of Worcester; a sister Jennie Sobolewsky of Worcester; 12 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a nephew. He is predeceased by three sons John Sobolewsky, Charles Martin and Robert Martin. Mr. Sobolewsky was born in Hartford, CT son of Joseph and Sophie (Boulay) Sobolewsky and lived most of his life in Worcester.

Mr. Sobolewsky was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. serving during World War II. He also served in the battle of Okinawa.

He worked for 43 years as a supervisor at Norton Company retiring in 1982.

Mr. Sobolewsky was a member of the Marine Corps League, Grafton Hill American Legion Post 323, and the Marine Night Fighter Squadron 542.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday June 8 in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday June 7 from 6 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Homeless Shelter for Veterans Grove Street Worcester, MA 01605.
