ACUSHNET -- Barry C. Howland, 63, years, of Acushnet, died at home unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Merrill and Alice (Gidley) Howland. He lived in Dartmouth and then Acushnet during his lifetime.
He was a plumber and was a member of the local Plumbers Union.
Mr. Howland served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include a sister, Joan Bernard of Center Tuftonboro, N.H.; a brother, Capt. David Howland of Bar Harbor, Maine; two nieces; and three nephews.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford.
