Dorothy A. Gay
...co-founder of Plaza Limousine; 80
LOWELL - Dorothy A. (Hackett) Gay, age 80, a co-founder of Plaza Limousine, died Thursday
morning, Sept. 29, at the Wentworth Skilled Care Center in Lowell, after a long period of
declining health. She was the wife of the late John R. Gay.
She was born in West Roxbury, on Sept. 25, 1925, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary
(Lynch) Hackett. She was raised in West Roxbury, and graduated from West Roxbury High
School. She lived in Billerica for most of her life, and moved to South Lowell twenty years ago.
Throughout her life, she had summered at Rangeley Lake in Maine.
She was a member of Holy Family Church, formerly St. Marie’s Church, in South Lowell.
She was a co-founder of Plaza Limousine Limited, where she worked as a manager until
retirement.
Mrs. Gay, was fondly recalled by her family as having been a lifelong Red Sox fan.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael F. Gay, Robert E. Gay, Richard J.
Gay and his wife Patricia (Bordeleau) all of Lowell; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary D. Noftle
and her husband Scott of Tewksbury; two sisters, Mary McCarthy of West Roxbury and Margaret
Niland of Dedham; five grandchildren, Kristin Donnelly, Robert Gay, Scott Noftle, Kimberly Gay
and Richard Gay; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late DennisW. Gay.

Her Funeral Mass was held Monday, Oct 3, in the Holy Family Church,So. Lowell. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery,
Tewksbury. Memorials to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Pl., Boston, MA 02215, will be
appreciated.
