Obituary

Douglas Alfred Pretti, 32, of Derry, NH passed away suddenly on June 29, 2017 in Manchester, NH. Doug was born January 20, 1985 at Parkland Medical Center and was a lifelong resident of Derry.

He is survived by his parents Alfred (Butchie) Pretti and Rosemary (Rory) LoGrasso-Pretti, both originally from Revere, MA, his sister and her husband, Vanessa and David Middleton of Fremont, NH, his brother, Derek Pretti of Allston, MA, and his three year old son, Dario Douglas Pretti. He is also survived by maternal grandmother, Grace LoGrasso, and paternal grandmother, Veronica (Honey) Pretti. He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather, Frank LoGrasso, and paternal grandfather, Alfred Pretti Sr., and his uncle, Stephen LoGrasso. He had a large family of aunts and uncles, niece and nephews along with numerous cousins.

Doug was generous, loving, and thoughtful to all he met. He would give his last dollar to any person in need, volunteered to help feed the homeless, and was always willing to help those struggling with drug addiction. He had a sharp intellect and a curiousity that could not be sated.

As a lifelong resident of Derry, he participated in many youth programs such as T-ball, cub scouts, little league baseball, soccer, Derry Boys Club wrestling, and Pop Warner Football. He amassed many friends while participating in these activities. Doug attended Pinkerton Academy where he was a perennial wrestler from Freshman to Senior year and played junior varsity Football. He graduated in 2004. After graduating, he wrestled in the North American Grappling Association where he had participated in tournaments throughout New England. He attended and graduated from the Seacoast Career Training School in Medical Coding. In recent years, he played for the Manchester Charge of the AAA New England Football League where he earned the 2016 Special Teams MVP award.

Doug's passion for sports, also included snowboarding with his father and motorcycling with his brother. Doug has worked many different jobs including landscaper, construction laborer and foreman, HVAC technician, and most recently as a salesman at Manchester Autofair Hyundai. In all avenues, he was adored by his coworkers for being a quick learner and hard worker.

Calling hours were held at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry on Wednesday, July 5, from 4:00-7:00pm with a memorial service that followed at 7:00pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be madeto his son's college fund, in the name of Dario Douglas Pretti , at any TD Bank location.
