Alton E. Ferris. Age 82. Husband of the late Alice (Viveiros) Ferris. Residence 23 Conserve Ave., Westport, MA. Died Monday at St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in Fall River, MA. Son of the late Manuel Ferris and the late Emma Alice (Lord) Ferris. He was a Westport resident for 2 years, previously residing in Fall River. Before retiring, he was a Finisher at Capri Textile, then a Night Watchman at Adams House. He was a member of the V.F.W. of Fall River on Bedford Street. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by One Son: Kevin A. Ferris of Massachusetts. One Daughter: Cheryl Gelewski of Westport, MA. Seven Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren, One Great Great Grandchild and Several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., Fall River, Ma. on Friday at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford Rd., Westport, Ma. at 10:00 AM. Internment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River, MA.Calling hours Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.
