Obituary

John F. Keating, a Medford Police Officer, died at Beth Israel Hospital, Sunday morning. He was 41.


A life long Medford resident, John graduated Medford High School with the class of 1982. He attended Western New England College and earned both Bachelor and Master Degrees in Criminal Justice. He was appointed to the Medford Police Depatment and commisioned in January of 1985. An active member of his community, John was a member of the Medford Kiwanas Club, the Irish American Club and the Medford Lodge of Elks.


He was the cherished son of John H. “Jake” Keating, former Medford Chief of Police and Medford City Councilor, and the late Marie F. (Lane ) Keating. He was the beloved companion of Angela Mizzoni of Medford. He was a devoted father to Karli, Jonelle and Johnmichael Keating. He was the beloved brother of Karen Joachim and her husband Stephan, Kathy Booth and her husband Donald all of Milford. He was a dear uncle of Christopher Booth and nephew of Edward and Theresa Keating of Charlestown. John is also survived by his father’s fiance’ Alva Erickson of Medford.


His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday at 10 AM followed by a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM, with the Rev’d Robert E. Casey, presiding. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 2 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
