Mary Avis Wood Bishop, 90, of Cairo passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Pruitt Health Care in Moultrie. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jimmy Hiers officiating. Mrs. Bishop will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 26, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Cole Posey, Billy Posey, T. J. Dawkins, Thomas Pittman, Kenny Rochester and Terry Delisle will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 14, 1926 in Statesboro, Mrs. Bishop was the daughter of the late Clem Wood and Millie Ann Cannon Wood. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie D. Shivers, Sr., Bill Ulmer and Johnny Bishop; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles D. Shivers, Jr. and wife, Keturah; four brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Floyd Spradlin of Havana, Florida; one brother, E. L. "Buck" Wood; three grandchildren and their spouses, Eddie and Sheri Spradlin, Sissy and Thomas Pittman and Nicki Shivers; ten great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
