Obituary

Joaquim "Jack" Rebeiro, 60, of New Bedford, formerly of Boston, died Sunday September 25, 2005 at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven after a brief illness.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel C. and Amelia (Pires) Rebeiro, he lived in Boston for 20 years before returning to New Bedford.

He was a lifelong member of the International Church of the Nazarene.

Mr. Rebeiro was formerly employed as head chef at several nursing homes in the Boston area as well as Bay State College in Brighton until his retirement. After returning to New Bedford, he worked for his older brother Archie at Archie's General Contracting.

He enjoyed sponsoring children for many years through the Christian Children's Fund. He lived his life to its fullest and always enjoyed making other people happy.

Survivors include four brothers, Archie Rebeiro, Roger Rebeiro, and Albert Rebeiro, all of New Bedford, and David Rebeiro of Dartmouth; four sisters, Dolores Richardson and Vivian Evora, both of New Bedford, and Elizabeth Tavares and Dr. Amelia Rebeiro Ambrose, both of Boston; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

He was the brother of the late Manuel "Doon Doon" Rebeiro, Norman Rebeiro, and Robert "Bobby" Rebeiro.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 29, 2005 at 10 AM in the International Church of the Nazarene, 284 Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Wednesday September 28, 2005 from 5-9 PM.
