Cesidio R. “Jesse” Lifrieri, a retired tailor and long-time Somerville resident, died Saturday after a long illness. He was 91.
Jesse was born in Italy and came to the United States when he was 12, settling with his family in Charlestown. He served with the Army, in Europe, during World War II. He worked many years for the State at MCI Norfolk, instructing prisoners in the fine art of tailoring. Upon his retirement he worked at some of Boston’s most well known men’s clothiers, including Nick the Tailor, Burberry’s and Brooks Brothers. A member of the Somerville Lodge of Elks, Jesse enjoyed participation in several bowling leagues. He also enjoyed playing golf and was featured by the Boston Globe for a hole-in-one. He was also a devoted fan of the Red Sox.
He was the beloved husband of Imaculata “Margaret” (Fantasia). He was a devoted father to Giuditta “Judy” Houhoulis and her husband James of Boxborough, Nancy Patsios and her husband James of Andover. He was a loving grandfather to William, Vincent and Anthony. He was the brother of the late Dario Lifrieri, brother-in-law of Rita Lifrieri of Wilmington and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday
at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours
Tuesday 3 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
