
Carolyn Pappas, formerly Carolyn Dwyer, of West Hartford and Niantic, died peacefully in the early morning of June 3, 2017. Born on October 17, 1929 to Leslie and Ethel Sanders, she grew up in West Hartford and graduated from Hall High School and was a graduate of Briarcliff College in New York.
She was the wife of Robert Dwyer and mother of three children – David Dwyer, Leslie Dwyer, and Martha Dwyer and grandmother to Brianna and Carly Dwyer and Zoe and Madeline Ryan. She also leaves behind a daughter in law – Denise Dwyer and son in law – Paul Ryan. Carol was predeceased by her husband Robert Dwyer, brother Robert “Rip” Sanders and second husband Charles “Dino” Pappas.
She worked various jobs including many years at Cohen, Rosenfeld and Lieberman in Hartford. She spent a lot of her childhood and adult life at seaside locations in Money Island, CT and Niantic, CT and enjoyed boating and waterskiing. Gatherings of friends and relatives at the family’s Niantic location were large and frequent. She wintered in Florida for many years. Carol always enjoyed a good time, but was mainly devoted to her family and she will be greatly missed. Most recently she was a resident of StoneRidge Senior Living in Mystic.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 9:00am at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Avenue, West Hartford at 11:30 AM.
