Obituary

Gilmanton------Walter L. Barton 70, of Beechwood drive, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Walter was born January 17, 1947 in Laconia, son to the late Richard and Rita (Hebert) Barton. He served his country in the United States Navy from1964 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. Walter then worked as a tool cutter and grinder for New Hampshire Ball bearing for 26 years and retired in 2014. Walter was an active member of the Gilmanton Community Church for many years, he served as a deacon trustee and volunteered for many church activities throughout the years. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 1670 and was a Chaplain, serving in his second term.

Walter enjoyed playing the harmonica, snowmobiling, helping others, was a loyal friend and loved animals. His greatest joy was camping with his family and friends. Above all family was most important to him.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon (Jenness) Barton of Gilmanton; two sons, Jamie Plante also of Gilmanton and Tracey Barton and his wife, Stacie of Longmont, CO; two daughters, Jolene Price and her husband, Jon of GIW and Yvette Lucero and her husband, Gerald of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren, Caleb, Cohen, Macayla, Taylor, Micah, Amanda, Regina, Gerald and Angelo; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Rick Barton and his wife, Gracie of Belmont; one nephew, Jeremy and many cousins. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister, Kathy O'Conner who passed May 6, 2017.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance.

A Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:30am at the Gilmanton Community Church, 497 Province Road At the "Corners" on Rt. 107, Gilmanton, NH.

Burial will follow with military honors at 2:00pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH
