Walter J. Cournoyer Jr. 79 of 31 St. Simon St. Woonsocket died Tuesday at home. He was the husband of the late Ethel (Cormier) Cournoyer. Mr. Cournoyer was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Walter J. and Laura (Theroux) Cournoyer Sr. He was a life long city resident. Mr. Cournoyer was a Roofer for Ricard & Sons for thirty five years retiring in 1991. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of the Amvets Post #62 in Woonsocket.
Mr. Cournoyer is survived by a son Joseph Peloquin of Woonsocket, three daughters Debra Duarte and Claire Darling both of Woonsocket, and Linda Bergeron of Kissimee, FL, a sister Doris McKenna of Woonsocket, twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in Holy Family Church, South Main St. Burial will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday 5-8 PM
