Obituary

WEBSTER – Alice A. (Krawczyk) Richard, 75, of 21 Eddy Street, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Hospice at Coes Pond, Worcester.

She leaves her husband of 54 years, Albert W. Richard; a daughter, Marlene A. Proulx of Webster; a son, Leonard A. and his wife Michele Richard of Oxford; 4 siblings, Phyllis Menafo of Dudley, Evelyn Champoux of Thompson, CT, Edward J. Krawczyk, Jr., of Reno, Nevada, and Charles Krawczyk of Westminster; 3 grandchildren, Julianne Proulx, Noelle Richard and Nicholas Richard; nieces and nephews. Her son-in-law, Paul R. Proulx, died in 2004.

She was born in Webster, a daughter of Edward J. Krawczyk, Sr., and Stasia (Strenk) Krawczyk. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1948 and completed continuing education courses at Quinsigamond Community College.

Mrs. Richard was an administrative assistant at the American Optical Company in Southbridge from 1948 to 1985. She then worked as a secretary at Anglo Fabrics Company and Anglo Enterprises, retiring in 1995.

She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica and a member of its choirs. She was a member and past president of both the Sacred Heart Society and the Saint Joseph Polish Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality and the Saint Anne Society. Involved in parish festivals for many years, she was on the first steering committee and was the co-chaiwoman for the initial festival. She was a founding member of the Friends of St. Joseph. She belonged to the John Paul II Foundation of New England. She donated her time for various parish ministries, including being a docent. Alice and her husband Albert received the 2004 Parish Ministry Award from the Diocese of Worcester. She was the recipient of the 2005 Eucharistic Icon for the parish

She was a member of the choir directed by Jacqueline Puliafico, which gave a concert in Rome, Italy, and also in the Webster Town Hall.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, Sept. 23, at the funeral home. The family suggests donations be made to St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570
