WEBSTER – Viola J. (Szymanski) Bergner, 91, of 42 Union Point Road, died Monday, September 19, at home. Her husband of 65 years, Frederick O. “Fred” Bergner, died in 1999.
She leaves a daughter, Beverly H. Courville of Spencer; a sister, Leona McCann of Dudley; 4 grandchildren, Sharon Bowman of Westborough, Charlene Frans of Taos, New Mexico, Jim Courville of Kingsport, Tennessee, and David Courville of North Brookfield; 2 great grandsons, David Courville, Jr. and James Courville; nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Webster, the daughter of William and Julianne (Schur) Szymanski. She lived in Auburn for many years returning to Webster about 40 years ago. She was a graduate of Bartlett High School.
Mrs. Bergner was a homemaker. She was a member of Saint Louis Church. She was active in the Webster Historical Society for many years. She enjoyed mountain climbing, swimming and cooking. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with people.
The funeral will be held Saturday, September 24, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 23, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
