Ligouri “Gurry” Peters

TEWKSBURY - Ligouri “Gurry” Peters, age 87, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 20, at the
Tewksbury Hospital, after a brief illness. For 44 years, he was the husband of Lela (Sutherland)
Peters, who died in March 1995.
He was born in Sanford, Maine, on January 14, 1918, a son of the late Samuel and Athena (Joseph)
Peters. He lived in Somerville and Milford, before retiring to Dunedin, Florida. He had been in
residence at Tewksbury Hospital for the past two years.
Prior to retirement, he worked for the Table Talk, and later Caterpillar Companies.
He is survived by two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Charles Peters of Quincy, Peter Peters
and his wife Catherine of Tewksbury, Katherine Peters of Needham and Thomasina Peters of
Georgetown; three sisters, Victoria Green of Medford, Ethel Newell of Cambridge, and Martha
“Margie” Fitzgerald of Dennisport; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held Thursday, Sept. 22 in the Chapel at Tewksbury
Hospital. Memorials to the Tewksbury Hospital, Patient Fund, c/o Administration, 365 East St. Tewksbury,
