Obituary

Maurer, Alfred L. II of Natick (formerly of Dover), age 53, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 16th, 2017 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. He was born on May 9th, 1964 in Boston, to Alfred L. Maurer and the late Marilyn J. (Leombruno) Maurer. He graduated Dover-Sherborn High School in 1982 and Curry College in 1987.

Despite being born with disabilities, Alfred achieved enormous things during his life. He was an incredibly hard worker and personally passionate about helping others who were disabled, particularly those in the hard-of-hearing community. Alfred had a unique ability to connect in a deep and positive way with others, and was a dedicated son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered as a bright and shining light, and loved all those around him.

Alfred is survived by his parents Alfred & Maria (of Ormond Beach, FL), sister Cheryl (of Arlington), brothers Charles and his wife Erika (of Hopkinton), Peter and his wife Amy (of Hopkinton), and Jacob (of Seattle, WA). He also leaves his loving partner Sherrie Wiles (of Newton), and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. Needham, Friday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Needham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment in Highland Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alfred’s name may be made to the Pallister Hall Syndrome research fund at the National Organization for Rare Disorders www.rarediseases.org.
