Obituary

Mary Margaret (Smith) Shea, 80, of East Freetown, formerly of Milton Street, New Bedford, died Sunday September 18, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late James F. Shea.
Born in Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Johanna (Doody) Smith, she lived on Milton St. in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Freetown one year ago.
Mrs. Shea was a communicant of St. John Neumann Church and a former communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
She was formerly employed at Cherry & Webb and was a care taker for many adult citizens before retiring.
Her entire family migrated to New Bedford in the early 1940's as the United States had taken over their Newfoundland property during World War II for the construction of a Naval and Air facility.
Mrs. Shea was an extremely talented artist. She loved music, her piano, gardening, reading and knitting. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include two brothers, Richard Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Adrian Smith, and his wife Sylvia, of New Bedford; two sisters, Mary Ann Bruce of Scituate, RI and Betty Flanagan, and her husband James, of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was the sister of the late Teresa Marshall, Pius Smith, John Smith, Russell Smith, Michael Smith and Annunciata Smith.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, September 21st at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Church at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Tuesday, September 20th from 4-8 PM.
Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
