TEWKSBURY - Margaret J. Daudelin, age 83, a retired librarian for the Town of Tewksbury,
died Saturday morning, Sept. 17, at the Wentworth Skilled Care Center in Lowell after a brief
period of declining health.
She was born in Dorchester, on April 5, 1922, a daughter of the late George L. and Dorothy May
(Kendrick) Daudelin. She was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School in 1940. In her earlier years, she played Marimba, a musical cousin of the xylophone, for several
accomplished bands, and during WWII toured with the USO.
She later became a librarian for the town of Tewksbury, at the Harold J. Patten Public Library.
She is survived by one niece and six nephews; Frances A. Moore of Tewksbury, Dr. Joseph M.
Downes Jr. of Lowell, Michael P. Downes of Springfield, NH, Louis Lavallee of Tewksbury,
Richard Lavallee of Husdon, NH, John Daudelin Jr. of Mexico, ME, George Daudelin Jr. of
Tewksbury; many grand nieces and nephews; and her long time companion, Anthony Santagati,
currently residing in N.C.
She was also sister of the late Dorothy Lavallee, who died last Tuesday, the late Frances Downes,
John Daudelin, George Daudelin; and aunt of the late Patricia Daudelin, and Donna (Dunfey)
Downes, the wife of her nephew Michael, who also died last Tuesday.
Her Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Sept. 21, in St. William’s
Church,Tewksbury. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
