Simone C. Phaneuf 82, formerly of Westgate Rd. in Cumberland, died April 28, 2017 at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Leon “Scotty” Phaneuf. Born in Worcester, MA, she was a daughter of the late Emile and Marie Blanche (Desrosiers) Dube. Simone was a seamstress for the former House of Brides for nineteen years before retiring. She enjoyed quilting and donated many children’s blankets for the Linus Project.
She is survived by two sisters Lucille Cloutier of SC, and Marie “Mary Jane” Gignac of Woonsocket, a brother James Kenneth Dube of SC, an uncle Albert Desrosiers of NH, an aunt Anita Lamoureux of Woonsocket, and several nieces and nephews, including her godchild Dennis Phaneuf and his wife Joanne of Woonsocket and their three sons Brian, Bruce, and Glenn. She was also the sister of the late Lucien Dube.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Olo St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Antoine Special Care Unit, 10 Rhodes Ave. North Smithfield, RI 02896, in her memory would be appreciated.
