James E. Carlson, Sr., 63, died Thursday, September 15, 2005, at UMass Memorial Hospital. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Diane E. (Gallant) Carlson; his mother, Catherine T. (Donahue) Carlson; 3 sons, James E. Carlson, Jr., of Worcester, William P. Carlson of Oakham, and Phillip E. Carlson of Worcester; a daughter, Colleen M. Carlson of Monson; 2 brothers, Thomas H. Carlson of Sacramento, and Paul J. Carlson of Los Angeles; a sister, Carol A. Kusy of Florida; many grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Oscar A. Carlson. He was a Vietnam War veteran and proudly served in the Marine Corps and Coast Guard Reserve. He was a machinist at Wyman Gordon. He was a member of the VFW, Vietnam Vets, and the American Legion. He was very loving and devoted to his family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 19, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Visitation will be held at 9:30 and a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
